FIRE SAFETY LAWS

On and after July 1, 2021, when you sell a property that is located in a high or very high fire hazard severity zone, you will need documentation of a Compliant Defensible Space Inspection that complies with Section 4291 of the Public Resource Code or local vegetation management ordinances (check with your local fire department).

DEFENSIBLE SPACE

Homeowners In A State Responsibility Area:

California law requires that homeowners in a SRA clear out flammable materials such as brush or vegetation around their buildings to 100 feet (or the property line) to create a defensible space buffer.

 

Defensible Space:

Helps halt the progress of an approaching wildfire and keeps firefighters safe while they defend your home.

SB9 & SB10

California Ends Single-Family Zoning

These Bills: SB9 & SB10 are aimed at increasing the supply of housing, but their impacts on affordable housing options remain uncertain.

 

SB9:

Allows Californians to convert their houses into up to four units, depending on plot size.

SB10:

Enables building up to ten apartments on lands currently set aside for single-family homes.
